Sustainability:

Artificial flowers are not usually biodegradable due to the fact that they are typically made of plastic based materials. However some could be more sustainable if made of fabric composed of natural fibers, or even paper. Another point to consider however with artificial flowers is that they don't have the maintenance or import issues of real flowers, which also affects the environment negatively.

Real dried flowers can be a good alternative since they also last a long time and are biodegradable. Making or purchasing fabric flowers, as long as the fabric is made of natural fibers, or even paper flowers, can also be considered a more eco friendly alternative. If deciding to use plastic flowers, try going for flowers made of recycled materials.
