Hot Glue
Glue

Sustainability:
Due to the fact that hot glue is plastic based, it does not biodegrade and also contributes to shedding microplastics into the environment. This means it is not a very sustainable choice. It also releases VOCs when heated and its production requires fossil fuels.
Potential Chemical Exposure:
The heating process of hot glue contributes to VOC exposure which can lead to respiratory irritation.
Safe Handling Recommendations:
When using hot glue, be sure to be in a well ventilated area, consider wearing a mask, and be aware of the location and temperature of the glue gun to avoid risk of burning.
Eco-Friendly Alternatives:
Animal based adhesives, and bio based polyurethanes are all good alternatives that match the strength of hot glue.
Sources - DIY or Retail:
Animal based glues such as milk and gelatin glue can be made at home, and try to purchase bio based hot glue sticks if possible or limit use.
