Mod Podge
Sealants and Resins

Sustainability:
Mod Podge contains acrylic sealant and ethylene-vinyl acetate, both of which cause harm to the environment. The acrylic contributes to microplastic pollution in water, and the EVA contributes to air pollution along with water pollution as well. There is also a large presence of inorganic compounds used in Mod Podge making it non biodegradable.
Potential Chemical Exposure:
The acrylic sealant and EVA in Mod Podge can release microplastics and toxins into the air respectivley.
Safe Handling Recommendations:
When using Mod Podge, minimize contact with it and use it in a well ventilated area to prevent breathing in fumes from the EVA while curing.
Eco-Friendly Alternatives:
There are some homemade Mod Podge recipes along with sealants from other brands that are more eco friendly such as Cocciona Natural Glue.
Sources - DIY or Retail:
The Mod Podge recipes can easily be made at home, and many different eco friendly alternatives can be purchased online.
