Rather than the paper itself, the dye that is used in the making of paper could be of concern. This dye that is used in paper can be considered a reactive dye, which can be carcinogenic, especially when mixed with water. It still may be worth using this type of paper in other crafts, but avoid mixing it with water if unsure.

Making and buying recycled paper is a good way to make a more eco friendly choice. There are also many different types of paper, such as sugarcane and bamboo paper, which are made using organic materials.
