Sustainability:

White glue is somewhat biodegradable and water soluble making it sustainable to an extent, however its production uses fossil fuels and its packaging tends to use a lot of plastic. It also does not biodegrade fully and can leave some polymers behind. There are also wastewater concerns associated with its production and additives in some glues due to how it may impact aquatic life.

Potential Chemical Exposure:

White glue poses some risk due to the chemicals in it for VOC exposure among other issues. Ethyl glycol, used in white glue as a solvent, can cause skin irritation and headaches when inhaled.

Safe Handling Recommendations:

Make sure to use white glue in a well ventilated area and minimize skin contact to reduce risk for irritation.

Eco-Friendly Alternatives:

Flour paste and animal based glues are more sustainable alternatives to white glues.

White glue can be purchased pretty much anywhere, department stores, craft stores, and even many places online. Be sure to purchase a low VOC and water based glue.
